In this study, pre-existing humoral immunity against the cattle-transmitted H5N1 influenza virus A/Texas/37/2024 was analyzed in individuals with no prior exposure to H5N1. Low but measurable cross-neutralizing antibody responses were detected, and monoclonal antibody analyses identified potent H5N1-neutralizing antibodies in several donors. The findings suggest that prior exposure to seasonal influenza viruses may provide a degree of baseline immunity against emerging H5N1 strains and could help reduce pandemic risk.
