Launch of the European Vaccines Hub for Pandemic Readiness

We’re happy to be part of the newly launched European Vaccines Hub for Pandemic Readiness (EVH), a major European initiative designed to supercharge vaccine development and pandemic preparedness.

The EVH brings together 11 top-tier research institutions and public health organizations from seven countries to accelerate the discovery, testing, and production of critical vaccines. Coordinated by the Sclavo Vaccines Association in Italy, this collaborative effort is supported by the European Union’s EU4Health program and includes leading names in infectious disease research and pandemic response.

Here at the Klein Lab, our expertise in virus-targeting antibodies and translational immunology is a natural fit for this groundbreaking project. As part of the German Center for Infection Research (DZIF), which is responsible for the EVH’s pillar on vaccine manufacturing and regulation, we’re contributing to certain work packages and collaborating closely with leading partners across Europe.

What’s especially exciting is the project’s aim: not just to create vaccines for specific pathogens, but to develop flexible, scalable platforms and processes that can quickly adapt to future pandemic threats. It’s about building a robust, interconnected European ecosystem for pandemic readiness—something we’re passionate about!
