Florian Among the World’s Most Influential Researchers

Florian has once again been recognized as one of the world’s most influential medical researchers. He is featured in the 2024 international “Highly Cited Researchers” ranking, which is published annually based on data from the “Web of Science” publication database.

The ranking identifies the top one percent of researchers worldwide in their respective fields, as measured by how frequently their scientific work was cited by peers over the past decade (2013-2023). Florian’s pioneering research focuses on the development of virus-targeting antibodies and the fight against HIV infections—areas of critical importance for global health.

The “Highly Cited Researchers 2024” list includes around 6,600 researchers globally, with 332 from Germany. In addition to Florian, four other physicians from University Hospital Cologne and the Medical Faculty of the University of Cologne have been honored this year: Oliver A. Cornely, Christian Frezza, Michael Hallek, and Jacques F. Meis. Their research spans areas from clinical infectious diseases and leukemia to translational medicine and the metabolic foundations of aging.

The repeated recognition of these outstanding scientists underscores the University Hospital Cologne’s status as a global leader in cutting-edge medical research and innovation.
